Snickerdoodle!

I know, it's a very weird word.

We were watching Veronica Mars (love it!!! love it!!!!) and she was baking snickerdoodles for friend Wallace. What are snickerdoodles?? (BTW, if you start messing round on that marsinvestigations.net site, you will note that your browser must accept snickerdoodles cookies - I laughed myself stupid reading that. D™ reckons that us net-nerds are all as bad as each other ..)

According to the best cooking reference book ever, they are a corruption of the word Schneckennudeln which means crinkly noodles. In fact, they deviate so far from crinkly noodles that the recipe in fact makes sugary, buttery cinnamon-coated biscuits. Where do the Americans come up with these names?

Besides - I just googled Schneckennudeln. They ain't like the American ones. I had to bake the American ones, just to be sure...

Ooohhhh... so hungry now ....

How many words was that?

Speaking of rain, do you remember the story in HHGTTG where this guy had some large number of descriptors for rain? Well this intrigued me so much that I thought it was high time to find out how many words the eskimos have for "snow" ... and it turns out, maybe 2, possibly 4, or if you're feeling really generous, 24. Generous meaning that things like "snowfall" and "snowdrift" and "icy slush" are all counted as "a word for snow". There, doesn't that make you feel better?

Hmm, didn't think so.

And by the way, it *always* rains at my birthday party. This type of rain can vary in intensity, temperature, and timing, but it will fall just when you're trying to decide whether or not to have the party outside.

Poor pingu ...

Go smack the penguins - you know you wanna. (requires flash)

There isn't much to say apart from LOL!!~!!1!!

(For those who knew and loved the original smack the pingu, this is yet another cracked version that not only allows you to score over 500 but comes complete with spikes, landmines, and gushing blood).

It's the 2nd of January

.. and I received a letter from myself via futureme.

It's traditional to make New Year resolutions and break them in the first week of the New Year but I think that's because people make resolutions that are too far out of character for them.

My New Year resolutions are many, but not too far out of character I think. I've sent them to myself to be reviewed in June. You'll just have to wait and ask me then if they are achieved.

And I'll probably write another letter to myself then, too.

It's the 2nd of January. Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all made it through the holiday period safely.

And it's back to work tomorrow - sigh.
